PMDG’s Robert Randazzo has taken to the forums to confirm their release plans for the 737 series on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. If all goes according to plan, we could be flying the aircraft by the end of the week.
In the forum post, Robert spends time informing us about how much time has gone into improving the aircraft from its original release for Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020). This includes a “vastly” improved virtual cockpit, an all-new virtual cabin, and an enhanced sound set (from a sound engineer who has logged hours on a 737 as a captain).
Internally, the team has been debating the release of the aircraft. PMDG says that there are still a “few cleanup” items for the exterior of the plane. Everything else with the aircraft passed the sign-off during the weekend, which has put PMDG in the position of looking to release it ahead of the Christmas holiday season. In order to get simmers up and flying the plane over the festive period, PMDG has slid some of those items to the post-release update cycle.
As a result, the team is currently anticipating a release for the PMDG 737-800 on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on 18th December 2025, after 17:00z. As with any date, this is subject to change, but Robert says he “doubts” this will happen.
Upgrade Price
This aircraft is being touted as a “significant overhaul” over the original release back in May 2022. No upgrade price has been set, but we have been told it will be a “substantial discount” for both customers who purchased through PMDG.com and the in-sim Marketplace. The discount will be the same across the whole 737 fleet, but it’s unclear if this is a fixed amount or a percentage amount.
If you don’t own the 737 on MSFS 2020, then you will be able to purchase the MSFS 2024 version as a standalone product, but that price hasn’t been revealed yet, either.
Release Date for the Other 737s?
Robert kindly confirmed their plan is to release the remaining 737 planes in the series in the following timeframe:
- PMDG 737-600 – January 2026
- PMDG 737-900 – January 2026
- PMDG 737-700 – February 2026
Of course, all subject to change.
