PMDG Announces Ops Center 3, 777-200ER In beta and Some Encouraging MSFS 2024 Port News

Robert from PMDG has provided us with a new weekend forum post that gives us some surprise announcement and welcome news about some of their upcoming projects.

PMDG 777-200ER

Some positive news for those waiting on the PMDG 777-200ER as Robert confirmed that the product has gone into beta testing. This new aircraft variant in the triple 7 lineup will include all three engine types (GE, RR, PW) along with accurate engine performance, and the other differences compared to other versions of the 777.

As previously announced, the PMDG 777-200ER will come to MSFS 2020 and then be released in MSFS 2024 at a later date. No firm timeframe has been provided, but the team will have a better feel internally in the next 7-10 days (to reconfirm, that doesn’t mean a release or an announcement of a release date in that time frame).

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Current News

It is no secret that PMDG has been working to get their aircraft in the new simulator and have faced their fair share of challenges. They have been using the latest build of the simulator and the SDK and are seeing a “high degree of success”, which is certainly encouraging news. They aren’t completely comfortable that everything has been resolved (they are still seeing some cockpit freezing), but stability is improved compared to where things were a few weeks ago.

Progress will continue to be made, and communication between Asobo/Microsoft and PMDG will continue to ensure that their products will be included in the new simulator.

As previously stated, the plan is to bring the 777 series to MSFS 2024 before then looking at the 737 series. As for the DC-6, the team has been trying to bring that plane to the new simulator. It was meant to be an easy conversion, but they are seeing issues with laggy animations and other issues. They have reported these instances to the right people but waiting to hear back. No ETA has been given for the DC-6.

PMDG 747-400 and the 747-100

These two projects are moving along nicely. In this post, we see two new images of the in-development 747-100 using some basic texturing whilst they continue to refine the final 3D geometry. You can get a glimpse of them below.

PMDG Operations Centre 3.0

Robert took the time to announce more information on the upcoming PMDG Operations Center 3.0. They have been accelerating the development of a new modern interface that will manage all PMDG product installations. You will be able to manage updates, preview changes, rollbacks and also implement new distribution channels like stable, experimental, and beta builds. It will also handle the listening of products and give PMDG more data on diagnosing and resolving problems.

They are saying the new ops center has entered beta testing. When it does roll out, it will be released alongside other methods to install and manage updates until they are comfortable cutting over all other products to the new method of doing things.
