PMDG’s Robert S. Randazzo has announced the 777F will release on 6th December 2024 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, in a post on the PMDG forums.
The PMDG chief also gave his thoughts on the recently released Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and stressed it is still their intention to bring an ‘MSFS24 build of the 777 product line that is natively built for MSFS24’. Although he did go on to add that there is currently no timeline for when this transition will take place.
The upcoming freighter version of the Boeing 777 promises to feature a number of systems unique to the variant, including supernumerary controls, main deck lighting systems, manual or automatic operation of the main deck cargo door to include the door sill mating plate, safety guards and other features. Users can expect to discover how much the 777F for MSFS 2020 will cost upon its release.
Additionally, the post states that users of GSX have been considered. Mr Randazzo writes ‘We have increased the connectivity with GSX by adding in automatic and manual control of the door interaction so that your GSX ground team can manage the doors and loading process for you.’
In light of the recent release of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Mr Randazzo spoke overwhelmingly in favour of the new sim, describing it as ‘more convincing visually than any simulation platform we have ever seen’. He goes on to say the simulator ‘offers more opportunity to engage in interesting flying, varied degrees of flying, community participation and engaged learning than any simulation platform we have had access to in the short 40+ years I’ve called myself a simmer.’
Although the particulars of PMDG’s move into the latest simulator remains to be seen, it is clear from the forum post that their ambition to see their products in the sim runs high. He writes, “While all of us at PMDG are chomping at the bit to get our products working in MSFS24, I am confident that the long-term enjoyment we all will gain from this platform will far exceed the tempestuous short term. While I cannot wait to have our 777 and eventually our 747 to fly in this new world, I am thankful that the platform is here and I appreciate the hard work it took to make this platform for me to enjoy.”
