PMDG has just released the next update for the PMDG 747 Queen of the Skies II. This update comes for both the 747-400 base pack and the 747-8 expansion.
Starting with the update, this brings updates to the models, both VC and external, update to the PBR, an updates physics model for the wings and tail-plane, as well as updated ground physics. Pushback as well includes multiple push modes like in the NGXu, such as the ability to drive the pushback tug yourself. Numerous fixes and improvements have also been implemented. A full change log can be found at the bottom of the post.
For this update, it its required for everyone to download new installers and reinstall the product. You can do this by logging into your account on the PMDG website and going to your account history.
This update also bring Prepar3D v5 compatibility to the 747 line up. The team has had to update some systems such as lighting changes, terrain scanning for the EFB, moving map displays, and many other factors. The team has said that new features will be coming for the 747 for P3D v5, but this will be coming at a later date. One of the upcoming updates is planned to be 8.33Mhz spacing. PMDG has said that users will likely need to experiment with the visual settings to get the 747 looking the way they want it to. HDR as well was warned to make the displays look “gauzy” if the lighting it too high.
The team also provided an explanation as to why some scenery might not load correctly on the moving map in the EFB. This is due to some airports not using the P3D v5 SDK and some are. The team has made a system to read both types, but have said it is not perfect and some not made with the v5 SDK might not load.
