PMDG 737-800 High Detail Update Available Now

Starting with the release of its 737-700 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, PMDG released a host of visual refinements called the High Detail Update. The 737-800, the most popular variant amongst real-world operators, has now received the High Detail treatment, marking the completion of the PMDG 737 NG fleet refresh.

In the release announcement on the PMDG forums, the 737-800 took a few weeks longer than the rest of the fleet because over 90 included liveries needed to be updated in the process.

According to PMDG, the team [has] placed tens of thousands rivets, screws, and fasteners, alongside improved skin mapping and enhanced modelling and animation of equipment hatches and external controls. Updates also include refined ground equipment and animations, as well as improvements to doorways, cargo holds, cabin interiors, cockpit, landing gear, gear bays, engines, and lighting as part of the High Detail Update.

Other PMDG Updates

Customers who purchased the 737-800 via the PMDG store already have access to the update and should expect to see prompts to update liveries if installed via Operations Center 3.0.

The rest of the 737 NG lineup for MSFS 2024 also received minor updates.

For Xbox and MSFS Marketplace customers, PMDG pushed the update into the Marketplace intake process. Xbox users will see stability improvements when updating Navigraph Navdata along with fixes to some oscillation behaviors in the AFDS. While no definitive date was provided, Robert Randazzo suggested that the update could land in users’ sims anywhere between the 21st and 28th of May. However, the forthcoming US Holiday weekend from 22nd-25th May could delay the process further.

The DC-6 Cloudmaster for MSFS 2024 has officially entered beta testing as a native 2024 built product. According to the developer, the product takes advantage of efficiencies in the MSFS 2024 modular architecture. However, there are no plans to change the DC-6 or add new features as part of the MSFS 2024 update process. Existing customers of the DC-6 for MSFS 2020 will be eligible to receive the DC-6 for MSFS 2024 at no charge.

Finally, PMDG Operations Center 2.0 will be taken offline on 26th May 2026 at 1700Z. Customers that have existing FSX/P3D titles installed are encouraged to make backups of liveries as OC2 will no longer have access to the server components it needs to install those features.
