Pimax has launched a new trade-in-style promotion, offering significant discounts on its Crystal Light VR headset for current owners of a wide range of other PCVR headsets. The “PCVR Level-up Event” is aimed at simmers and racers looking to upgrade to a higher-resolution experience without sending in their old hardware.
The Crystal Light offers 4K-per-eye resolution with a pixel density of 35 PPD, making it especially appealing for sim enthusiasts flying in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, DCS World, or racing in iRacing. The sharp visuals are designed to make cockpit displays, HUDs, and track elements clearer and easier to read compared to older-generation devices.
Eligible headsets for this upgrade program include models from Meta, Valve, HTC, HP, Pico, Varjo, and Bigscreen. Popular headsets like the Rift S, Quest 2/3, Valve Index, HP Reverb G2, and HTC Vive series are all accepted. The process is entirely digital—users submit their existing headset details, wait for approval, and receive a unique discount code via email. There is no need to send in your old headset.
How the Discount Works
Unlike traditional trade-in programs, users don’t need to send in their old headset. Instead, they simply:
- Submit headset details via the official Pimax site
- Wait for approval (usually within 2 business days)
- Receive a personal discount code
- Apply the discount when purchasing the Crystal Light
Once approved, users receive a tiered discount depending on their current headset model—up to $100 USD off in many cases. The more advanced or recent the headset, the greater the discount. Additionally, FSElite readers can save an extra 3% with the code FSE at checkout.
