PILOT’S brought their rendition of the old school Boeing 314 Clipper to Microsoft Flight Simulator in a release that hopes to please fans of the “flying boat.”
The Boeing 314 Clipper was introduced in 1939 as one of the largest aircraft available in its time. Only 12 were made and they weren’t in operation for very long; having been retired in 1948. Of the 12 built, nine were operated by Pan Am in both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. In addition to flying execs and the very wealthy around the world, the amphibious Clipper was used by the US military during World War II to ferry personnel and equipment to both the European and Pacific fronts.
PILOT’S first released the Boeing 314 Clipper for P3D back in 2021 and it’s now available for Microsoft Flight Simulator – adding to the relatively new sim’s vast library of historical aircraft. PILOT’S states that features are still under construction, with the intention to bring this aircraft to a state of “study-level” quality. While some features are still under construction, the aircraft is developed from the ground up for MSFS. Features that were mentioned include a simulated Flight Engineer Station, Sperry Type A gyropilot, custom sound pack, different versions including the more powerful B-314A, mooring position hold and lines, etc. For a full feature list, see below.
