Following on from the release of Flow to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and Go Fish, the team at Parallel 42 has released a new add-on called Typical Weather.

Parallel 42 describes this as “intelligent, location-aware weather” that can adapt to the location you are in the world. Rather than relying on endless weather presets, Typical Weather will use data sample points to generate weather that is best suited to that particular location and time of year. It’s not designed to replicate live weather or historic weather, but rather a typical weather scenario.

Parallel 42 has worked alongside Damian Clark of Active Sky, and together they created a “simple but powerful, weather as a visual experience.” The application is managed through an in-sim menu that displays the data you need and the ability to change various options and settings.

The standard feature, Typical Weather, gives you detailed METAR data, wind and gust visualisation, and a way to sync for multiplayer sessions. You can choose between static weather or more dynamic weather as you fly along your route.

There are other options too, for example, randomisation. When you roll the dice and pick from a weather preset, you will get a unique sequence number, which can be shared with friends so you can both experience the same scene together.

It’s available right now from Parallel 42’s website for $20.00 USD (excluding any taxes).
