Parallel 42 has barely gotten their SimFX and Airbus effects add-ons out the door and into the hands of simmers, but they are back again today announcing their latest new product for MSFS – another utility addon, this time aimed at improving your sim’s performance and frame rate.
Taboo, as it is called, can disable various systems and avionics in your sim aircraft, which the Parallel 42 team say will reduce the sim’s memory footprint, improving the performance of MSFS on Desktop and Xbox systems.
A tongue-in-cheek trailer accompanying the announcement of the new add-on shows how, with a new in-sim menu, users can disable various avionics and displays. The example given shows an Airbus aircraft, with the user electing to disable the copilot’s navigation display (ND). Upon flicking the switch to perform this action, the screen within the cockpit goes black temporarily before displaying “INOP”.
On Xbox consoles, Parallel 42 say that using Taboo to disable non-essential systems has had a “MEASUREABLE”, in capitals, difference in performance, and could potentially be the difference between being able to use an aircraft or not.
For users on higher-end desktop systems, Taboo could also be useful to you. Disabling specific systems, such as those from the side of the airplane you don’t sit on, could increase your frame rate at heavy-hitting airports according to the release statement.
Taboo is available now from the Parallel 42 webshop for £7.00 GBP (incl. taxes).
