As we get closer to the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, more and more developers are beginning to share their experiences using their products in the new flight sim. The latest developer to provide an update on compatibility is Parallel 42 who provided a brief statement on what users can expect.
Written by newcomer to the team, Ed Correia, he opened by giving some not-so-great news. “Unfortunately, this has not been an entirely smooth process,” when mentioning how testing has gone with their products as part of the dev alpha. He continued by saying that statements from Microsoft saying “virtually all add-ons will work” has not helped the perception that migration from FS2020 to FS2024 will be a smooth one. Ed said that this promise “falls way short” for many third-party developers, including Parallel 42.
Parallel 42 is not sitting on their hands, as testing of their add-ons has been ongoing for the new simulator. That said, until a solid production release is out in the wild, they cannot commit to exactly how their products will look in the new sim at launch. “Our products will not likely work day 1, in fact, we encourage you to install them and experience just how broken they are so our workload is validated on your end,” Ed said.
What Ed was keen to let the community know was that Parallel 42 is in no rush to compromise on quality. He said most products should make the cut, but it may take several months to ensure everything runs smoothly.
