Parallel 42 has kicked off FSExpoFriday with 20 minutes of announcement after announcement. This includes an update to ChasePlane, new information on upcoming ‘Scenes’, information on the Patriot aircraft, plus a brand new aircraft.
ChasePlane
The team started their presentation with a re-cap on what ChasePlane is. The camera system, launched earlier this year, allows users to add new camera locations, improve their views, and much more. In the presentation, they spoke about new improvements they are making based on feedback.
They have spent time doing a major refactor of the code to ensure it works, even in edge-case scenarios. This has also paved the way for improvements for all users. Tobiii support is now possible and now also named shortcuts are part of the update too. Plus, you can now make your own custom cinmetics by checking the box for the view you want, as well as adjusting spot views, toggle between ChasePlane and default camera system, and much more. Parallel 42 also confirmed that this update will pave way for users to select from ‘stable’ and ‘experimental’ branches. When? Next week, after the team return from FSExpo.
As for the MSFS 2024 version, the team is working hard on it and will be released when it’s ready; no shortcuts. On stage the team said they had a version of the add on working in 2024, however this still “needs some finessing”. When a build is ready for distribution, it will be available via the new experimental build.
Scenes and Flow
Ed comes back on stage to talk about Flow. They know that this is a popular tool for many and are working on bringing it to MSFS 2024 just as soon as possible.
As for Scenes, the team are hard at work on some new ones. Bush Plane Campout and Mexican Mountain were both announced and will come with loads of new features and interactivity in the future.
Aircraft – Patriot and Freedom Fox
Parallel 42 then turned their attention to their aircraft. 10 months ago they announced the Patriot for MSFS 2020/24. They are nearing the end of the 3D development work and have final reviews with the manufacturer to ensure it’s as authentic as possible.
As for the Freedom Fox, the team’s original plan was to make it MSFS 2024 compatible, but this is now going to be a “native(ish)” release, with all new MSFS 2024 specific features. This includes new avionics, a walk-around mode, EFB Tablet, careeer mode support and more. Scenes included with the plane will start to see native MSFS 2024 support too.
New Aircraft Announcement
And finally, the team confirmed that they are working on yet another aircraft. Again in collaboration with Trent Palmer, they are working on bringing the Legend Nomad to Microsoft Flight Simulator.
