Pacific Islands Simulation recently took to their Facebook page to share the new progress made on their upcoming Raleigh-Durham Airport scenery.
Raleigh-Durham International Airport (KRDU/RDU) is North Carolina’s second biggest airport and has continuously broke its yearly passenger count records. The modest-sized airport currently serves as a focus city for Delta Airlines, as an operating base for Avelo Airlines, and will become an operating base for Delta’s subsidiary, Endeavor Air. In addition, RDU Airport is served by all the major U.S. airlines, as well as a number of international airlines, including Lufthansa and Icelandair. While RDU Airport features relatively modern facilities, the airport is currently looking to expand Terminal 1 to keep up with growing passenger numbers.

Pacific Islands Simulation’s latest update on the scenery centered around the texturing completed on the two passenger terminals. Namely, texture work was completed on the taxiways and apron areas, allowing for realistic uneven surfaces and bumps to be included. In addition, more ground service equipment was added, including freight pods. The developer noted in their post that the terminals’ interiors, night lighting, and custom taxiway signs are still yet to be completed. Overall, these latest screenshots demonstrate that Pacific Islands Simulations’ RDU project is inching closer to completion and it will be exciting to finally have this scenery available in MSFS 2020/2024.
FSElite will continue to monitor this story and provide any future updates.
