Microsoft Flight Simulator has surpassed over 2 million users since the simulator launched on August 18th 2020. The new user count was shared on the Xbox press site and also confirmed it is the “fastest-growing entry” in the series to date. The announcement was also shared with some impressive stats that have been achieved since the release.
Those 2 million pilots have flown a total of more than 3,500,000,000 miles (19 round trips from Earth to the sun) across 50,000,000 flights. The most popular aircraft is the Airbus A320 NEO, with New York, Los Angeles and Heathrow taking the cake for most popular airports. Despite such huge user numbers, only 7000 have visited the Asobo offices and a small number of you (4300) have visited Microsoft in Seattle. Eyes have also been glued to Twitch as over 9.7 million hours have been viewed on the platform since the product was made available. Finally, it’s been confirmed that over 500 products are already available for the simulator as add-ons from a variety of third-party developers.
The number of users for Microsoft Flight Simulator will only continue to grow thanks to the fact it is being recognised as Game of the Year by some outlets and already Simulator of the Year at the Game Awards 2020. Furthermore, with the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator on Xbox Series X|S next Summer, it won’t be long before we’re sharing the news of 3 million-plus users of the simulator.
This blockbuster number will only help to continue to grow the community, encourage better and more development work from third-parties and keep Asobo Studio and Microsoft interested in creating an even better simulator experience for all.
