Known for their previous releases of the Scottish Aviation Bulldog and London Gatwick for both X-plane 11 and Microsoft Flight Simulator, Origami Studios has now turned its attention to the busiest airport in Europe, London Heathrow for X-Plane 12.
London Heathrow airport started life in 1929 as Great West Aerodrome, a small airfield further developed during World War II. In 1946 it reopened as a civil airport simply known as ‘London Airport’ which provided air transport across the commonwealth after the war. Today, London Heathrow comprises a single cargo terminal and four passenger terminals which see over 78 million passengers heading to over 180 destinations each year. Virgin Atlantic and British Airways call Heathrow home and a further 92 airlines operate to and from the gateway to Europe.
Although details of the features to be included in the release of Origami Studios’ rendition of the airport are yet to be confirmed, the developer has included a multitude of screenshots of the airport, straight from X-Plane 12. The current state of the development, judging by the screenshots provided, looks to be well underway with static aircraft, detailed terminal buildings, vegetation, ground vehicles and airport signage.

Origami Studios has confirmed that the airport will make full use of the latest features of X-Plane 12 to include rain and snow effects, optimised reflections, moving jetways and 3D vegetation and forests.
Although the release of Heathrow Airport will be much anticipated, there is no detail on a release date or pricing as yet.
