Earlier this week, Orbx announced that Hollywood Burbank v2 would soon be released for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This new version, developed by Matteo Veneziani, will include all-new texturing, modelling and more that would improve on the original release.
The news of an update was welcome, but the fact that the update was to be a paid one had caused upset in the community. The initial offer of a 50% upgrade fee for those customers who owned the original was certainly met with a mixed, and vocal, reaction.
Orbx, however, has today confirmed a backtrack on this upgrade fee and will instead be made freely available to customers who own v1. This decision was said over on the Orbx forums and comes as a result of Orbx listening to the feedback that was shared.
“But… we heard you. So, we have decided (together with Matteo) to make v2 of Burbank Airport available for free to current customers.“
Matteo has spent significant time on this new version of Hollywood Burbank. As such, there will be a slight price increase for new customers, as this new version will replace the old one.
“As Matteo has spent significant time working on this new version, there will be a slight price increase for KBUR v2 for new customers, launching on [MSFS] soon.”
