Orbx has taken the decision to discontinue offering X-Plane 11 cross-promotional discount on products, which have been released on ESP platforms in the past. On the Orbx forums, Aimee, Marketing Manager, goes into detail about why the decision has been made.
Since beginning to develop products for X-Plane, Orbx has offered a 40% discount on products which featured in multiple sims. Many of the products currently for X-Plane have been ported from their ESP brothers to the platform, whilst some have also been delivered natively for Laminar Research’s platform. Whilst that discount was hugely beneficial for the customer, Orbx has said that due to the high volume of X-Plane products now being developed, the 40% discount will be discontinued going forward.
Whilst the discount is going away, Orbx’s next airport, LOWI Innsbruck for X-Plane 11, will feature the 40% off for a limited time of two-weeks before being removed. After this time, all previous cross-platform discounts will be removed – including products already released with said discount. For the sake of clarity, this also means XPL -> ESP discount will also be removed.
Aimee concluded the forum post by saying that Orbx “pride[s] [themselves] in the hard work and R&D which goes into every one of our titles, and are firmly committed to offering [the community] value for money as well as the quality you have come to expect from us.”
There is no information regarding cross-promotional discount on Aerofly FS 2 products at this time.
