Orbx has released a new rendition of McKinnon St. Simons Island Airport (KSSI) for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Developed by indie creator Andreas Hegi, the scenery has been built natively for the new simulator platform, taking advantage of the latest SDK and environmental systems.
Located along the Georgia coast, McKinnon St. Simons Island Airport offers a blend of coastal atmosphere and general aviation operations. The airport is popular with corporate traffic, including Gulfstreams, as well as smaller GA aircraft.
The scenery has been developed from the ground up for MSFS 2024, ensuring compatibility with the updated physics and lighting engine. UHD PBR texturing has been applied across the airport, from weathered asphalt to detailed hangar facades, while on-site photography has been used to capture many of the building’s distinctive qualities.
