Following the teaser late last year, Orbx has released the Grumman TBF Avenger for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The Grumman TBF Avenger. This World War II warbird was extremely popular during the time thanks to its range and nearly 10,000 units were built.
First flown in 1941 and entering combat in 1942, the Avenger was designed to replace the Douglas TBD Devastator. It could carry a crew of three: a pilot, a radioman/gunner, and a forward gunner. The aircraft had a top speed of 275 mph and a range of over 1,000 miles. Paul Bennet returns to support Orbx in developing this aircraft for the simulator, following the Wolf Pitts Pro released earlier last year.

Due to the collaboration, Orbx has created the plane in a lot of detail, thanks to the access to the few remaining aircraft left. Every element of the plane has been recreated in authentic detail, including realistic flight dynamics. You will be able to execute snap rolls, experience genuine stall characteristics, and various other aerobatic scenarios. In addition, the team has managed to capture audio recordings directly from Bennet’s own Avenger. From the product page:
- Engine notes shift with RPM and airspeed for unparalleled realism.
- Wind and ground roll effects bring every moment to life.
- Recorded straight from the source—this is the true sound of the Avenger.
You can buy your copy from Orbx for $28.00 AUD (approx US$17,68 | €16,84 | £14,17, excluding taxes).
If you buy the MSFS 2020 version, you will also be able to access the MSFS 2024 version via Orbx Central.
