Orbx Releases Brisbane for X-Plane 12

Orbx has released its first airport for X-Plane 12. The newest release, Brisbane Airport is an upgrade of the original release on X-Plane 11 that comes free of charge for all current customers.

The new release/upgrade, takes full advantage of the new technology found in Laminar Research’s next generation flight sim. The airport will feel much more alive now, with the introduction of ’Living Scenery Technology’ that is performance friendly, but allows Orbx to add new animated objects with ease. This includes things like an animated monorail, ground vehicles and more.

Orbx is also taking full advantage of the new technology in the sim, with upgrade models for various parts of Brisbane, improved texturing and an updated mesh to better represent the airport with accuracy. The GA areas in particular have seen improvements with smaller details like picnic benches, vegetation and more added to improve the overall experience.

In addition to all these improvements in the X-Plane 12 version, Orbx has also updated the airport for current X-Plane 11 users.

If you already own Brisbane, you can download the update now through Orbx Central free of charge. However, if you are keen to pick it up for the first time, then you can buy it from Orbx for $28.96 AUD.

Future Orbx Plans with X-Plane 12

Further to the release of the new upgrade for Brisbane, Orbx has also confirmed some of their plans with working on X-Plane 12 in the future. Currently, there is a lot of work ongoing to bring their current catalogue of products to X-Plane 12, with TrueEarth products on their priority list. It may take some time as Orbx figure out how to exactly take full advantage of the new tech. There are some brand new products also coming to X-Plane 12.

In terms of pricing, it will likely vary from product to product on how much it will cost to upgrade. As mentioned, this update for Brisbane is free of charge, but future products may incur an upgrade fee, which will depend on the amount of work required.

You can read more about their plans on their forums.
