Already announced unofficially at FSExpo just last week, Orbx has now officially announced London City Airport (EGLC) for X-Plane 11. London City Airport will be Orbx’s first airport made completely with PBR textures.
London City Airport is a rather famous airport for its challenging (steep) approach. The airport is only suitable for a range of aircraft, with the Airbus A318 being the largest one to be able to land here. Pilots need to go undergo special qualification to be allowed to fly to the airport.
As mentioned before, this is Orbx’s first airport completely made up of PBR textures. But it also comes with a number of other features. There will be animated traffic on the streets surrounding the airport, and the airport itself will feature static aircraft. Another noteworthy feature that Orbx has put time in to develop is ‘Dynamic Fire & Rescue Response’. When an aircraft declares an emergency on approach, the fire services will respond and and deploy to your aircraft position once you’re on the ground.
London City Airport will soon be available through Orbx Direct for $32.96 AUD. Orbx recommends using TrueEarth GB South when using this airport. The airport will work without, but some issues, such as missing or misplaced items and broken photorealistic texture blending, may arise.
Furthermore, Orbx stated that the Prepar3D version for this airport will also be announced soon.
