Since being announced 2 years ago, Orbx’s BuildingsHD has been highly anticipated after by many. The software promises to replace all default autogen buildings with a much more appropriate texture and model set, closely linked to location and design. Not much has been said about the project since, but we’ve kept a close eye on it ever since. Fortunately, John V. from Orbx gave a brief update as well as some brand new previews of development progress.
Whilst a release was expected last year, this project hit a few bumps in the road as real-world things got in the way. For Scott, the developer, his job as a commercial pilot and renovating his house were what put the project on the down-low for a bit. However, with Bill Womack rejoining the team, he will be hands-on to crack on with development to get it out as soon as possible. No time frame was given, but work on BuildingsHD is now active for both Scott and Bill.
The previews taken in P3D give a small flavour on what we can expect, and John has said that we’ll be hearing from Scott in due course with a full reveal announcement very soon.
