Orbx is bringing the picturesque airport of Unalaska (PADU) to Microsoft Flight Simulator, with the announcement being made on their forums. Orbx developer Matteo Venanziani is the creator of this scenic airport, with his other creations being Skiathos, Burbank and Van Nuys.
Unalaska Airport (also known as Dutch Harbor) is a small airport on Amaknak Island located in the Aleutian Islands off the coast of Alaska. Situated around 800 miles southwest of the city of Anchorage, the airport has a short 4,500ft runway bordered by open water on one side and a large hill on the other. Both ends of the runway drop off into the ocean and with regular inclement weather, makes the approach and landing a challenging experience to be had.
Not only has Orbx recreated Unalaska Airport in high detail, but they have also covered the entire city, harbour and surrounding landmarks.
No release date has been announced as of yet but judging by the screenshots it looks like it’s well on its way, until then make sure to stay tuned to FSElite for more updates.
