Orbx has announced that they will soon be bringing South America Mesh to Microsoft Flight Simulator. Like their New Zealand mesh product released a few months ago, this will transform the whole of South America with improved mesh resolution.
That improved mesh resolution will bring the Andes Mountain Range to 10 meters/pixel, whilst the rest of the continent has a resolution of 20 meters/pixel. Orbx has interpolated the data so you’ll have a consistent experience across the land. There’s no noticeable difference in performance and you will not see any blurring and minimal LOD morphing. All of this is contained in a 25GB package.

“South America, the fourth-largest continent, extends from the Gulf of Darién in the northwest to the Tierra del Fuego archipelago in the south. It is a continent of extremes and is home to the world’s largest river as well as the world’s driest place.“

Over on the Orbx forums, you can also view some comparison images to show you the difference the product makes once it’s installed.
Orbx didn’t confirm a release date, but we should have our hands on this very soon. We’ll keep you updated.
Update 22-07: Orbx has released South America Mesh. It can be purchased for $18.84 AUD from Orbx Direct.
