Orbx has started the week off by announcing they will be bringing Matteo Veneziani’s Olbia Costa Smeralda airport to Microsoft Flight Simulator. The popular European destination sees a mix of general aviation traffic, private charter jets and also a large number of airliner traffic to the local area.
Set in the Mediterranean island of Sardina, Olbia has scenic views, huge amounts of vegetation and great looking docks, harbours and charming towns all of which Matteo has customised for the simulator. According to the post on the Orbx forums, Matteo has taken the most recent MSFS SDK updates and will use completely custom animated jetways, custom ground poly and more. Whilst Olbia was originally released for Prepar3D, this version has had all the textures redone and the dozens of landmarks are brought over to the new simulator giving you the chance to explore.
When Olbia Costa Smerala airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator releases, it will include the airport in high-quality detail as well as the surrounding city to provide an immersive experience.
Orbx has shared a range of previews for the airport product itself, and a release is expected sometime soon.
You can read more, and see more previews, on the Orbx forums.
