Orbx has quietly announced a new aircraft in development for Microsoft Flight Simulator. the Grumman TBF Avenger. This World War II warbird was extremely popular during the time thanks to its range and nearly 10,000 units were built.
First flown in 1941 and entering combat in 1942, the Avenger was designed to replace the Douglas TBD Devastator. It could carry a crew of three: a pilot, a radioman/gunner, and a forward gunner. The aircraft had a top speed of 275 mph and a range of over 1,000 miles.
Paul Bennet returns to support Orbx in developing this aircraft for the simulator, following the Wolf Pitts Pro released earlier this year.
Details are rather lacking from Orbx as they only released a short teaser on their Facebook page. As soon as more news appears, we’ll let you know.
