OnReTech, the third-party developer behind the DCS: Sinai map, has announced its next project for DCS World: the DCS: Balkans map. The announcement was made in the latest Eagle Dynamics newsletter.
According to the newsletter, the map will cover the Balkans, the Adriatic Sea, and the coast of Italy. It is intended to allow for the recreation of NATO operations over former Yugoslavia from 1991 to 2001 and is noted as a suitable theatre for aircraft like the F-16C and MiG-29A, both of which are available in DCS.
OnReTech states the map will feature a wide variety of landscapes, including the Adriatic coastline, mountain ranges such as the Dinaric Alps and Apennines, and deep forest valleys. The developer also notes that numerous urban centres will be modelled, including Venice, Dubrovnik, Belgrade, and Zagreb.

Additionally, key military airfields in Italy, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and other regional countries are being created. The newsletter specifically mentions Aviano Air Base in Italy, home to the USAF’s 31st Fighter Wing, as well as civilian airports like Venice Marco Polo.
OnReTech has stated that the DCS: Balkans map is planned for release in 2026.
The newsletter also announced two new future additions for the Currenthill asset pack. These include the Grisha-class Corvette, described as an anti-submarine and coastal defence vessel, and an AI-only EC-665 Tiger UHT attack helicopter.
