Nimbus Simulation Studios recently took to their Facebook page to announce the release of Charlotte V1.4, a free upgrade that introduces a host of visual and layout enhancements to the scenery.
Charlotte Douglas International Airport (KCLT/CLT) serves as American Airlines’ second busiest hub and has steadily become one of the fastest growing airports in the United States. Located only 6 miles away from the heart of Charlotte, CLT Airport is known for being a mega-connector, while growing its international presence in recent years. Currently, the airport is undergoing a major multi-year expansion project to prepare for continued passenger growth. This includes an expanded check-in lobby, renovated concourses, and a new parallel runway. With American Airlines showing no signs of slowing growth anytime soon, the sky is the limit for Charlotte Airport.

Nimbus Simulation Studios’ Charlotte version 1.4 headlining feature includes improving the ground textures across the airport, while updating the layout to better match the real-world airport. The runway and aprons now have refined color variations to ensure surfaces appear more dynamic no matter what distance you view them from. In addition, the concrete and asphalt textures have been enhanced to create a more immersive experience.
Regarding the airport expansion, new blue and orange taxiway lines have been added, the same lines that were added in real life to more efficiently route aircraft around construction areas. Runway 5/23 has been removed, reflective of a real-world change that occurred in 2024. Similarly, taxiway extensions for Taxiway V and T have been added.
Overall, with this latest update, Nimbus Simulation Studios is doubling down on offering X-Plane pilots a well-polished and realistic experience in Charlotte. All users can download version 1.4 for free, or purchase Charlotte from the X-Plane store, if you haven’t already.
