An announcement was posted by developer Jumanja providing details about a new tool that has been launched. The tool, available on NextSimFlight.com, is mentioned to be a “passion project” that was born out of the struggle of attempting to come up with an origin and destination for your next flight. The tool is free to use and it is stated to be a contribution to the flight sim community to help fellow enthusiasts with this common problem.
The tool aims to convert your requirements for a flight into suggestions. To get started you can supply a number of search parameters such as an estimated time en route, distance in nautical miles, aircraft and airport type. The searches are powered by a database of over 48,000 airports. A secondary benefit to this is that it may come up with airports you may not have considered flying to previously. The tool also has VATSIM integration, this enables you to stay connected to real-time VATSIM coverage and get suggestions for airports that are currently staffed. Real-time weather is also integrated, this can help you find airports that have a specific type of weather you would like to fly or practise in. The search results are shown with a visualization of the cloud layers, winds and the layout of the runways.
If you are interested in performing authentic flights, an integration with real-world flight schedules is also available (currently in beta). Currently there are 76,000 real airline schedules covering a multitude of airlines and aircraft present. And finally, just in case you don’t have much inspiration, you can also generate random routes based on a few filters. If you find a route you like you can have the tool prefill the data directly into a Simbrief flight plan.
