Navigraph Charts Closed Beta Video Preview [Chewwy94]

Popular flight simulation Twitch streamer Chewwy94 has released a video via his YouTube channel showcasing a first look of the closed beta Navigraph Charts utility.

The short video provides a detailed insight into what to expect from the new look client.

Firstly, Navigraph is allowing a select amount of beta testers to test the brand new features as a web-based client. The desktop app version is something they are working on but this will be released to beta testers at a later date.

SimBrief (simulation flight planner) integration plays a big part in getting the best out of this new version. Once you have completed your route and generated the OFP, Navigraph requires you to import this into the new client. This is very simple and requires a SimBrief username.

Once the flight plan is imported from SimBrief the route is shown on a world map. The runways, SID’s, VOR’s and waypoints are all colour coded click spots for additional information. If you click on the SID for your selected runway you have options to impressively overlay the corresponding Jeppesen chart onto the map or view it in a window format.

When the enable traffic button is pressed you can then view your aircraft, in real time, following the SID. The same intuitive method applies to STAR’s and is very useful on the fly. (No pun intended).

With just one click on the airport ICAO you are presented with options to view the ground charts and edit procedures should you wish to do so. All of the usual charts are accessible on the left of your screen and presented in the way Navigraph users are used to with the current version.

Impressively, with just one click, these options are available for the origin, destination and alternate airports within your flight plan. When you select any of these you can view all available runways and select the corresponding SID or STAR that is presented to you. All SID’s and STAR’s are found here but the one that is used will be clearly presented at the top of the list. With a simple click of “show visual overview”, all of the SID’s and STAR’s are shown in a visual format which can make things much easier to better understand the direction of the procedures.

For flight simulation newcomers and veterans alike, this brand new version is shaping up to be a must buy.

The ever useful and current version of Navigraph Charts Ultimate package (FMS Data and Charts) is available for €9.99 per month. You can start your subscription right here.
