After an approximately month long beta period, Sim Update 6 for MSFS 2024 is now available for everyone. This brings the current MSFS 2024 version number to 1.8.14.0.
Sim Update 6 is an incremental update focused on quality-of-life improvements for users rather than adding a ton of new content. The update also brings a host of new tools for developers.
Key highlights include native support for DLSS 4.5 upscaling and Dynamic Frame Generation (for users with NVIDIA graphics cards) and the ability to skip the walkaround in Free Flight mode thanks to a new menu option in the assistance settings.
FSR4 support for AMD graphics card users was tested in the beta, but it was removed from the public Sim Update 6 release. This is due to incompatibility between FSR4 Frame Generation and multiple windows. AMD pilots are back to using OptiScaler while Microsoft actively collaborates on a fix with AMD.
Further improvements in Sim Update 6 include a fix for soft lock when crashing aircraft during belly landings, fixes to random crashes when raytraced shadows are enabled, fixes to loading of WASM systems and improved error handling, improved raymarched shadows at far distance, improved Texture/LoD popping inside the cockpit, and many more.
As promised during Microsoft’s Flight Sim Expo 2026 presentation, Bush Trips are now available in MSFS 2024 as of Sim Update 6. They can be accessed from the Activities Menu.
