MM Simulations Announces Sitia Airport for MSFS

MM Simulations recently took to their Discord to announce their next Microsoft Flight Simulator scenery project: Sitia Airport. The project will join the developer’s growing collection of Greek airports, including Samos and Kavala airports.

Sitia Airport (LGST/JSH), officially named Sitia Airport “Vitsentzos Kornaros” after the celebrated 17th-century Cretan poet, is a small regional airport located on the eastern tip of Crete, Greece. The airport can trace its roots back to 1984 when Olympic Airways began operating domestic flights to the city. Shortly after in 1993, the airport inaugurated a newly built passenger terminal and control tower Sitia Airport continued to expand and build new facilities throughout the 21st century, with a new runway opening in May 2003 and a modern passenger terminal opening in January 2016. These facility improvements have enabled the operation of larger passenger jets, such as the Airbus A320. Despite the modest size, the airport continues to see a growing amount of passenger traffic, as it provides travelers with a more scenic and relaxing alternative to the island’s main gateway, Heraklion International Airport.

The MM Simulations announcement offered limited information on the new project, with photo previews focusing on the relatively new terminal’s interior. Despite the limited details, the developer noted the scenery will feature a fully custom-built terminal, detailed interiors, and recreation of features unique to Sitia Airport. MM Simulations will continue to provide additional photo previews as the project’s development progresses.

FSElite will continue to monitor this story and share any updates as they become available.
