In a post on their Facebook page, Miltech Simulations announced that their CH47D is now natively compatible with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The free update brings new features and improvements specifically for MSFS2024 to the tandem-rotor, military heavy-lift helicopter. Miltech Simulations says the CH47D’s cockpit, airframe, and systems have all been converted to MSFS2024 native standards, with LODs adjusted to avoid culling. The included sceneries and missions have been improved, and a walkaround mode, avatar spawn points, and new MSFS2024-specific effects have been added. Lighting and AFCS systems fixes have been implemented as well to prevent hangs and excessive memory consumption, improving the overall experience for users in the new sim.
In addition to the CH47D helicopter, Miltech Simulations’ package for MSFS2020 and MSFS2024 includes several complementary sceneries and scenes to enhance the experience. These include scenery for RAF Odiham in Hampshire, Bryant Airfield in Alaska, and Chabelley Airfield in Djibouti. The fictional Camp Resilience in Jordan and Al Sahra Base in Kuwait are also included, as well as multiple small training facilities, exercise scenes, and rescue scenes.
An upcoming version of the CH47D for both FS2020 and FS2024 is promised to include an optional refueling probe, toggable blade tie-downs, PMS50 GPS integration, chaff/flare effects, and address the map EFB flickering issues found in MSFS2024.
Miltech Simulations’ CH47D can be purchased directly from the developer’s website for $35.99, excluding taxes and fees. As of the time of this article, the CH47D is on sale for $23.39, so if you haven’t picked it up, now is a great time!
