Miltech Simulations Shares October Development Update

Miltech shares progress on MH-60 updates, Skyraider pricing, Mission Hub Marketplace release details, and previews of CH-53 and U-2.

Miltech Simulations Shares October Development Update

Miltech Simulations provided a development update to the community addressing the status of several projects including the MH-60, Skyraider, Mission Hub, U-2, and CH-53 Helicopter.

Miltech Simulations MH-60 Updates

Work continues on the V1.0.3 update which is due sometime in the next few weeks. Miltech’s goal for V1.0.3 is to reach a stable build before moving on to major new feature additions.

Highlights in the forthcoming update include an APU logic overhaul to resolve intermittent issues, flight model & SAS improvements, AFCS logic refinements, new keybind support, optimized mipmapping for FS2024, realistic INS alignment, a map gauge crash fix, revised cockpit lighting, pop-out gauge support, manual trim support, and enhanced speed control.

Livery pack 1 for the MH-60 is also being prepped for final release, and a finalized livery lineup was included, which you can view here.

Regarding the UH-60, Miltech did not have any updates to share, only stating that it was scheduled for a 2026 release.

Mission Hub Updates

Xbox testing for Mission Hub is in its final stages. The FS2020 version of Mission Hub has already been approved for release on the MSFS Marketplace, and the 2024 version needs a few final tweaks. On the next viable release window (likely Monday, October 27th 2025), Miltech will launch Mission Hub for Flight Simulator 2020 on PC and Xbox.

For Flight Simulator 2024, Mission Hub will be available for PC only. According to the Miltech, several reliability issues in the FS2024 platform are preventing them from releasing it to Xbox users. Miltech confirmed Microsoft is looking into the issues, but it did not provide an ETA for when Mission Hub will be available for MSFS24 XBox users.

Work on the next major Mission Hub update continues, bringing a long list of improvements and new features. These include sling load enhancements, extended objective texts, new map tools, image objects, new SAR scenarios, new sling loads, and new simobjects like fire trucks, ambulances, snowcats, limousines, Humvees, pickups, and fast patrol crafts.

Miltech announced they are also working closely with the Mission Builder App, which will add cloud-based mission sharing. This will give users the ability to share missions online and even send missions from the web straight into Mission Hub.

Skyraider Updates

Miltech’s Skyraider (in partnership with BlackBird Simulations) has entered beta testing. The aircraft is feature-complete in MSFS 2020 and has been fully converted to the modular MSFS2024 framework.

The package will include several distinct fuselage variants including the A-1H, AD-3W, AEW-1, and AD-4W. Each variant is livery dependent, so when a livery is selected, the simulator will automatically load the corresponding fuselage. While the differences in fuselage variants are purely cosmetic, Miltech claims they add a lot of visual variety to the Skyraider. Visual differences between variants include a belly radome, an elongated canopy section, a rear fuselage crew door, and observer station details.

Miltech expects pricing to land in the USD mid-$20 range, which will cover all the included variants of the Skyraider. The aircraft will be fully compatible with both PC and XBox versions of FS2020 and FS2024. The developer also anticipates a smoother release process on Marketplace this time around, thanks to the straightforward structure of the project and experience gained from previous launches.

To complement the launch of the Skyraider, Miltech has been developing a series of Korea and Vietnam-era aircraft carriers, beginning with the USS Intrepid. These carriers will be available as fully usable assets in both Supercarrier Pro and Mission Hub upon the release of the Skyraider.

Several preview photos of the forthcoming Skyraider and the USS Intrepid were included in the post and are shown below.

U-2 Spyplane Updates

Miltech’s U-2 started development in early 2023 as a passion project and technology testbed for the team. However, more pressing projects like the C-17, MH-60, and Skyraider required more immediate attention. This resulted in the U-2 being bumped down the priority list. According to the developer, the delay was actually a positive event. More information on the U-2 has been made publicly available as the airframe is now slated for retirement.

Miltech is developing the U-2 for both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 covering both the S (digital) and R (analog) cockpit variants. In addition to the aicraft itself, the developer is planning on modelling the ecosystem that surrounds it. This includes a detailed set of U-2 specific ground support equipment, chase cars, and five detailed airbases. Groom Lake (Area 51), Fairford (UK), Akrotiri (Cyprus), Osan (South Korea), and a fictional CIA airstrip designed for historical USSR overflight missions will all be included with the U-2 at no additional cost.

Missions for the U-2 will be available through Mission Hub and will feature dynamic, randomized events, custom audio effects, and scenarios that may involve intercepting communications using the aircraft’s radios and onboard sensors.

A number of previews were included below, showcasing a WIP version of the digital avionics suite, ground support assets, chase cars, airbase objects, mission plans, and a seat model. Miltech emphasized that models of the cockpit and fuselage are being reworked to match their current development standards and chose not to show those assets in the post. However, retooling the models shouldn’t significantly affect the release schedule since they’ve allocated extra development capacity to the U-2.

No ETA for the release of the U-2 was provided as of the publishing of this article. However, it is next up on Miltech’s release schedule.

CH-53 Updates

Miltech included a few preview photos highlighting modelling progress on the CH-53 helicopter. Starting off with the main rotor hub, the developer stated that the modular system in MSFS 2024 allows them to bring high levels of detail to the CH-53 with minimal performance impact.

The same modular system also allows them to design configurable cabin layouts for different variants. At the present moment, Miltech is focusing on the CH-53E and MH-53E. Beyond the preview photos included below, no further detail or information on a potential release date was provided at the time of publishing this article.

Miltech and FS2020

The post concluded with a note on Miltech’s stance towards MSFS2020. Miltech anticipates a full transition to a 2024-only development environment sometime in 2026, citing logistical complexities and lack of financial sustainability. The developer attributed many of the “delays” in their 2025 roadmap in part to supporting both platforms, and maintaining backward compatibility limits their ability to fully leverage the new development tools introduced in FS2024. Miltech committed to bringing the Skyraider and U2 to MSFS2020 and MSFS2024. For further upcoming aircraft like the CH-53 and UH-60, dual platform support is unclear at this time.
