As the dust settles from Flight Sim Expo 2026, we’re recapping some of the highlights you may have missed, continuing with coverage of Miltech’s presentation.
Two new sceneries are coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator thanks to a partnership between Miltech Simulations and SundownerSim.
The first of which will be Berlin Tempelhof, scheduled for a June release. It’s modeled in its 1960s configuration and features period accurate statics from Pan Am and BEA alongside USAF aircraft of the era. Pilots will be able to fly the full length of the Berlin Wall with period set dressing. Three teaser missions for Mission Hub and the Bo 105 are also included.
The second scenery will be Tonopah Test Range. Scheduled for a July release, the scenery covers the entire Tonopah Training Range, features period accurate modeling of Area 51 circa 1970s-80s and Tonopah AFB circa 1990. It includes dozens of dry lake beds and landing zones across the range and contains Mission-ready reference points at black-project tests sites like A-12 Avenger, Have Blue, and Tacit Blue. The scenery also includes Aliens and Extraterrestrial Highway landmarks.














Miltech U-2 Update
First announced in 2025, the hotly anticipated U-2 from Miltech has gone through several iterations and revisions. 2 external remakes and 2 avionics remakes brought Miltech to the U-2 in its current form. While it’s not the schedule the developer planned for, it has enabled them to create a much better offering.
The U-2 package will span 3 variants: The U-2S– the current high-altitude recon airframe with a digital glass cockpit, the U-2R– featuring the same mission profile with an analog cockpit, and the ER-2, featuring the same R airframe and cockpit but used by NASA as a high-altitude science platform.
The team is approximately 90% complete with the cockpit model and textures, 90% complete with the external model and textures, and the final livery list spans 27 different paint schemes, many of which have already been completed.
The U-2 will feature bundled sceneries including RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus, RAF Fairford in the UK, Groom Lake in the USA in a 1960s configuration, Patrick Space Force Base for NASA flights, and a fictional airstrip in northern Finland for USSR flyover missions.
In terms of avionics and sensors, the U-2S will include a CDU, full MFD glass cockpit with over 35 simulated pages, and RADNAV. The U-2R/ ER-2 will feature a stormscope, INS unit, and camera viewfinder. Sensors including an optical camera, terrain radar, and weather sensor will all be modeled.
A new U-2 Datalink Portal provides pilots with a web-based interface with optional live telemetry tied to the aircraft. It allows for IMINT and SIGINT collection, Land Survey via ASARS-2, and weather survey data on the NASA variants. All of the information captured in-sim is available for download on the web Datalink Portal.
The U-2 package will also feature a variety of missions and special features. 15 missions will be available for pilots to fly inside of Miltech’s Mission Hub (purchase required). Chase cars from multiple eras will also be included, alongside a fully modelled GSE including GPUs, ASUs, crew transfer vans, and stairs.
Pilots will be able to perform realistic pre-flight flows including servicing liquid oxygen tanks, reviewing the logbook, and checking maintenance remarks. Failures and maintenance cycles are also simulated.



Miltech Experience
A new experience is coming to all future Miltech aircraft starting with the U-2 and CH-53. The Miltech Experience combines new technologies that allow each airframe to carry its own state, have quirks and faults develop over time, have over 470+ discrete failure points simulated, have finite service lives for each component based on real-world specs, and have wear feed into the flight model directly. Special features for helicopters include cracking blades, degrading bearings, and rotor balancing issues. Component wear is directly linked to flight model issues such as phase lag, dissymmetry of lift, resonance, blade flapping, and coning.
Miltech Dash-8
To close off the presentation, Miltech showed an image of a tail section belonging to a Dash-8 twin-engine turboprop airliner illuminated in a thunderstorm. No further information on Miltech’s next project was provided.
No additional pricing or release date information was provided for the U-2 or any of the forthcoming sceneries beyond what was already written in this article.
