Microsoft Releases World Update XVIII: Germany, Austria and Switzerland

MSFS’ 18th World Update takes us back to Germany, Austria and Switzerland with new and improved data.

Microsoft has released their 18th World Update for MSFS 2020. World Update XVIII, as announced in a developer stream just over a week ago, takes us back to Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The update adds high resolution aerial photography, elevation data and TIN (triangulated irregular network) data, alongside several hand-crafted airport.

In Germany, the cities Berlin, Frankfurt am Main, Hanau, Karow and Potsdam have all been enriched with TIN data. For Austria, the cities that receive a TIN make-over are Linz, Salzburg and Vienna and Switzerland sees Bern and Zurich receive the same upgrade. Additionally, the World Update adds 42 points of interest in Germany, 38 in Austria and 36 in Switzerland.

World Update XVIII also brings some airport upgrades in the form of hand-crafted airports. These include Munich Airport (EDDM) in Germany, Salzburg Airport (LOWS) in Austria and Bern Airport (LSZB) in Switzerland.

The new World Update can also be explored through several new activities: three discovery flights, three landing challenges and three bush trips have been included in the update as well.

MSFS 2020 World Update XVIII: Germany, Austria and Switzerland is available right now and can be downloaded through the MSFS Marketplace.
