Taking to the skies for the first time in 1937, the Focke-Wulf Fw 200 Condor was a German designed and built long-range aircraft. It was designed for cross-Atlantic operations at an altitude of 3000m (9800 ft), as high as was possible as the airplane lacked a pressurised cabin. The aircraft set several long-distance records during its early years, including flights from Berlin to New York.
As World War II broke out, the Condor was adapted to military use with a strengthened and extended fuselage, and armament options including gun positions and bomb pylons.
A total of 276 Focke-Wulf Fw 200 Condor aircraft were built, with only one surviving (reconstructed) aircraft. It’s on display in Berlin’s Tempelhof Airport.
While the aircraft might not fly in real life anymore, it can take to the skies once again in Microsoft Flight Simulator. Developed by iniBuilds, the Focke-Wulf Fw 200 Condor is available right now through the MSFS Marketplace for $14.99.
