Microsoft Releases Famous Flyer 12: The Piper PA-28-236 Dakota

Take to the skies in Microsoft’s latest Famous Flyer: the PA-28-236 Dakota.

Microsoft has released the latest in their line-up of ‘Famous Flyers‘. Together with the release of City Update 11: Northeastern United States 2, the developer also released the Piper PA-28-236 Dakota.

The PA-28 aircraft is one of the most produced general aviation aircraft in history. The original PA-28 Cherokee was designed and developed in 1960, and the aircraft has received numerous upgrades over time, still being produced to this day. The Dakota version of the aircraft dates back to 1977, when Piper stopped producing preceding variants of the plane, and introduced a new 235 hp aircraft with several of the improvements from previous aircraft, including the Piper tapered wing. The Dakota features 4 cabin seats and a fixed landing gear. It has a range of 852 miles and a service ceiling of 17.500 feet ASL.

The release of the Dakota also marks the third of four aircraft that Microsoft is giving out to owners of MSFS 2024 as a “make good” for issues encountered with the simulator. Users of MSFS 2024 can therefore find the PA-28 Dakota available for free in their aircraft library. Owners of MSFS 2020 can purchase the aircraft for $14.99 USD in the MSFS Marketplace.
