A short post from the Microsoft Flight Simulator team has confirmed that the upcoming World Update III: United Kingdom has been delayed again until February 16th 2021. This delay follows various other delays which have been attributed to the new technology and tools being used to incorporate the new photogrammetry cities into the simulator.
On the social media post shared by the official Microsoft Flight Simulator account, it said: “World Update 3 is in its final polish phase and is now locked in for release on Tuesday, February 16th.” Following up from that, the team thanked the community for the continued patience whilst the team puts the finishing touches to this massive update.
We already know that this update will bring photogrammetry cities to the likes of London, Oxford and Bristol along with adding five hand-crafted airports including Liverpool John Lennon Airport (EGGP). In addition, hundreds of new points of interest will be added as well as new aerial imagery and updated mesh information.
The update was due to release originally in late-January and was subsequently pushed several times due to new tools being used and developed to bring even greater levels of detail to the updated cities. However, the team seemingly are confident in the new release date for the free World Update coming to the simulator. We’ll keep you posted with any future developments.
