Microsoft has released their weekly update for the upcoming Flight Simulator. While being a shorter update, there is still some worthwhile information posted about the upcoming Alpha 5, as well as the next Partnership Series being released.
Alpha
The team has announced that the next Alpha of the sim is in the final testing phase. In next week’s update, the team will announce the release date for Alpha 5. The full build notes will be released when Alpha 5 is sent out to the testers. A timeline for the closed beta is also expected in next week’s update.
More invites are also being sent out, so be sure to check your email if you have been accepted. The team also made it clear that if you are currently in the Alpha, you will automatically get access to the closed beta.
Partnership Series
This week also saw the next iteration of the Partnership Series. Microsoft has partnered with NAVBLUE to provide navigation data for the sim. “NAVBLUE will provide real-world aeronautical data to Microsoft through its Navigation+ and, post-launch, Charts+ services”. The data will be in an ARINC424 format. You can read the full post about the partnership in the embedded image.
Community Screenshots
Lost of content was shared this week by the team. A number of different videos were shared showing the flight deck of some of the GA aircraft in action, as well as some exterior videos of the 747. Plenty of screenshots accompanied the videos showing off some spectacular landscapes around the world, the A320 flight deck with a flight plan programmed in, and more.
