Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Sim Update 1 Now Available, Marketplace Soon

After a delay to the original target release, Sim Update 1 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is now available for everyone on PC and Xbox. The new update provides a massive number of changes that bring stability and a host of bug fixes following the launch of the simulator back in November 2024.

Stability and performance were a huge focus of this update, taking the key learnings from the post-launch feedback. It includes numerous fixes and crash reports, general in-sim streaming stability, and fixes to the career mode to improve the overall user experience.

In addition to Microsoft/Asobo making some key changes to many parts of the simulator, they have also worked with their aircraft partners to fix a huge number of issues with the included default planes. From the Airbus fleet to smaller Cessna planes, pretty much every new aircraft has seen some kind of change or improvement.

If you have been on the open betas for Sim Update 1, then many of the changes and fixes seen in the changelog would’ve applied to you already. However, if this is your first time moving to Sim Update 1, then you should see a significant number of changes to your simulator. That said, Microsoft isn’t resting here as work on Sim Update 2 is well underway already.

Sim Update 1 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 can be downloaded when you launch the simulator. You can read the full changelog here (it’s lengthy).

As a reminder, if you have any products in your community folder, you should move or rename it before updating to prevent any errors launching the title post-update.

Marketplace Coming Soon

Sim Update 1 paves the way for the in-sim Marketplace, which will be out very soon. This has been long-awaited by many (developers and community members alike) and the final tweaks are being made before it’s available for release.
