The floodgates for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 are well and truly open now, following on from last week’s Global Preview Event coverage. Since then, Microsoft and Asobo Studio went online for their usual Developer Q&A session to answer even more questions. Whilst there were quite a lot of interesting comments from the teams, there were a few that we felt were deserving of their own articles.
During the stream, Microsoft was asked if a user can purchase Premium Deluxe aircraft separately if they own a different edition (e.g. Standard Edition). Around the 1 hour 35-minute mark, Jorg answered the question by saying “Yes!” He continued, “I heard that loud and clear last time.”
So this means if you owned the Standard Edition and did not want to upgrade to the Premium Deluxe Edition, you are able to buy the extra planes as standalone purchases. This means you can buy the likes of the 747-400 Global Supertanker, the H225, the Pilatus PC-24, and many more. The question was specific to the Premium Deluxe Edition, but it’s reasonable to assume this will apply to the Deluxe Edition aircraft as well.
Here’s a reminder of the planes that are in the Premium Deluxe Edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator:
- Airbus Helicopter H225
- Beechcraft C90 GTX King Air
- The Boeing Company 747-400 Global Supertanker

The list of those found in the Deluxe Edition:

What isn’t clear at this time is how much each individual plane will cost you. In the past, Microsoft tends to release planes for $14.99 USD, so it remains to be seen how much these will cost as individual items. That said, the difference between each edition is $30.00.
