Earlier this month, we reported that Aerosoft were going to be unable to deliver the Limited Collector’s Edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator to customers outside of the United States in time for the release on November 19th 2024. However, Jorg, Head of Flight Simulator, has confirmed what Microsoft plans on doing to ensure customers who pre-ordered the edition will be able to fly despite the delay of the physical edition.
Originally, Aerosoft said that due to “unexpected shipping delays” to their warehouse, the Limited Collector’s Edition would not start shipping until the first week of December – roughly two weeks after the launch of the simulator generally. As the codes for customers would be inside the package, there was seemingly no way for Aerosoft or Microsoft to then distribute the codes directly to customers.
Once Microsoft was made aware of the issue, they were quick to say that they would be looking into the issue and would work to find a solution for customers. Today, on the latest live stream, Jorg confirmed that customers who did pre-order the Limited Collector’s Edition will be able to fly Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on release day.
He said that for anyone who pre-ordered the Limited Collector’s Edition (outside of the US) prior to November 6th 2024, an email from Aerosoft will soon be sent out with a token for one month of Xbox Game Pass. This will enable you to then use the Standard Edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on release day. Then “within a day or so”, a second code will be sent to those customers to upgrade to the Aviator’s Edition so then you have all the planes and airports. Then once your physical copy arrives with the code, you will be able to redeem that code and you will be able to continue exactly where you left off.
Jorg expressed that it is disappointing, but thanked customers for being tolerant about the situation. He hopes this will ensure that everyone who wants to experience the simulator can do so with minimal impact until the physical editions ship in early December.
If you still want to pre-order the physical edition, you can still do so from Aerosoft’s store.
