Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has had a bumpy start, but Microsoft and Asobo are reassuring the community that things are starting to settle down. A new update from the team over on the official blog indicated that things are stabilising for simmers and there will be some new hotfixes and updates in the coming weeks which will improve the experience for all.
Jorg Neumann, Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator, took to the blog to say that issues regarding access and streaming has been resolved. He stated that “reliability is now above 99.999%.” and that the “servers and services are also all performing as expected.”
Hotfix 1, distributed last week, is said to have increased stability and addressed multiple issues. That said, the team isn’t stopping there and is preparing another patch to release during the week of December 2nd 2024. This second patch will continue to address stability improvements and other fixes. Following that, a larger third patch will be released during the week of December 9th. In the third patch, it is planned to allow users to disable/enable content that was transferred from MSFS 2020 to MSFS 2024.
Speaking of the Marketplace, the team is also aware of instances of community content causing crashes and other significant issues, meaning Microsoft will be temporarily deactivating all MSFS 2020 non-aircraft content from MSFS 2024. A safe boot option to deactivate 3rd party content is also coming with the patch releasing the week of December 9th 2024.
Jorg concluded that they will hold their regular Developer Q&A Stream next week, where they will provide further updates and answer community questions.
