MicroProse has officially unveiled its upcoming B-17G Flying Fortress for Microsoft Flight Simulator, the first aircraft in its new Heritage Valor Collection. The legendary World War II bomber is being developed with a strong focus on historical accuracy, immersive systems, and cinematic presentation. While the aircraft is not yet released, simmers can sign up on Just Flight to be notified when Early Access begins.

Built in collaboration with aviation historians, restoration experts, and warbird enthusiasts, the B-17G Flying Fortress aims to recreate the experience of flying the “Flying Fortress” in remarkable detail. The aircraft features a fully modelled cockpit and cabin, 4K PBR textures, and a bespoke flight model tuned specifically for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The visuals are paired with a Wwise-driven soundscape recorded from real B-17 engines to deliver an authentic mechanical and acoustic experience.
Once Early Access begins, simmers will have access to a highly detailed model with five authentic liveries, an initial flight model, and basic crew customisation. As development progresses, updates will expand the feature set toward a full v1.0 release, which is planned to include:
- A refined, high-fidelity flight model tailored for MSFS 2024
- Fully modelled cockpit with operational panels and instruments
- 4K PBR textures with realistic wear, weathering, and reflections
- Comprehensive Wwise audio package, recorded from the real B-17
- Six authentic liveries, with more planned post-launch
- Advanced maintenance and damage systems
- In-sim clipboard for customisation, including toggleable modern avionics
- Enhanced multiplayer animations and effects
The Flying Fortress will enter early access on October 9th 2025. MicroProse has confirmed that Early Access buyers will receive all updates up to and including the full v1.0 version. You can see the roadmap below.
