After a crazy few weeks, Matt Davies has posted development update #7 over on the Mettar Simulations blog. This update is sure to hype us up with some enticing information and screenshots we’ve all been longingly awaiting. Matt says that his team have been focusing on every single project at the same time and its been working surprisingly well. The idea is for every project to interact with one another whilst remaining completely independent, he’s included a breakdown of each product and how they interact with one another that you can check out over on the blog post.
POSCON has reached a development stage where it will soon be opened to their testing team which you can be part of. They’re still sorting out bugs and improving services across the board where they’ll be opening up POSCON during weekends for “open beta waves”. These waves will focus on different areas of POSCON each weekend and will allow them to properly test the network.
The second most common question about POSCON is about the voice codec/quality. Take a listen to the audio clip below which demonstrates POSCON’s voice capabilities.
projectFLY has made good progress since the last blog post and continuously receives improvements and bug fixes. The team have been especially focusing on improving the projectFLY contracts system which has received many new functions such as deadlines, a search feature and a communications center.
Furthermore, you may have recently noticed that the team has now incorporated a rainfall radar projectFLY’s map as of Beta Update 20 – v3.0.12. In one of their future updates, they will look at adding more weather related features. Another cool feature that will be useful for many of us is flight playback. As of now, when you view flights in your logbook you can access flight playback on an enhanced map that allows you to step through each stage of the flight whilst displaying detailed information.
You can view all projectFLY changelogs here.
Simstall development has begun, but the team will keep things behind closed doors until they’re all in agreement that they’ve got enough to share.
Finally, the news we’ve all been anticipating. Matt has released 5 previews of the A380 which are eye-candy, to say the least, even in their untextured state. It leaves us wanting more and it only means that the day we finally see it in our simulators is getting closer by every dev update.
