Mamudesign Marinas Updated With Cranes and Buoys

Developer Mamudesign is one of those developers making our simulator a touch more realistic and immersive through a variety of add-ons. One of these add-ons is Marinas, which started out as a freeware add-on, and has since grown to be a more comprehensive payware product. The add-on adds piers with docked boats, as well as new boat models and static boats to the simulator. Mamudesign is able to achieve this using algorithms that analyse Open Street Map data and generate output for the simulator, across the globe.

The latest update, version 0.9.1, adds a range of new features. In MSFS 2024, the ability to walk on the piers with your virtual avatar has now been added. There are now also random seagulls available, depending on the fauna density setting in the simulator. But most of all, the addition of several new seamarks, such as buoys and navigation lights, as well as cranes and containers around commercial ports, adds to the realism and immersion that this add-on provides.

• Containers: Commercial ports have been enhanced with container piles, they are semi auto generated, so they don’t follow the aerials, but they give a great idea of the loads of shipping that is going on
