Magnitude 3 Releases F4U-1D Corsair for DCS

Magnitude 3 has released the F4U-1D Corsair for DCS World, adding a classic American carrier-based fighter to the simulator’s growing collection of World War II aircraft.

The F4U-1D variant entered service in 1944 and featured a number of improvements over earlier Corsair models. These included the R-2800-8W Double Wasp engine with water injection, support for eight HVAR rockets, a payload capacity of up to 4,000 lbs, and a redesigned clear-view canopy. The aircraft was widely used by the US Navy and Marine Corps during WWII and continued to serve in conflicts into the 1950s.

According to Magnitude 3, the F4U-1D module features a custom-built external 3D model and a fully interactive cockpit, with all major systems such as electrical, fuel, hydraulic, and pneumatic accurately represented. The flight model is said to be based on computational fluid dynamics, official flight test data, and pilot feedback.

The Corsair module launched alongside a new free map: WWII Marianas, which brings a 1940s-era version of the Mariana Islands map to DCS. The map includes period-correct airfields, terrain, and locations suitable for Pacific operations. Released as part of DCS update 2.9.17.11733, the patch also included core fixes, AI improvements, and updates across several aircraft modules.

You can purchase the F4U-1D Corsair by Magnitude 3 for DCS World from the DCS E-Shop for a discounted price of $47.99.
