Local Legend 22: NAMC YS-11 Released for Microsoft Flight Simulator

The iconic Japanese NAMC YS-11 has joined Microsoft Flight Simulator as Local Legend 22, available now for both MSFS 2020 and 2024.

The next entry in Microsoft Flight Simulator’s Local Legend series has landed, with the release of the NAMC YS-11. Known as Japan’s first and only post-war commercial airliner, the twin-engine turboprop has now been recreated for both MSFS 2020 and 2024.

Developed by the Nihon Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation, the YS-11 first flew in 1962 and went on to see 182 units built. Its short-field capability and rugged design made it a reliable choice for regional carriers and military operators around the world.

In Microsoft Flight Simulator, the aircraft comes in two variants – a standard passenger model and a VIP configuration – alongside a selection of authentic liveries. Powered by two Rolls-Royce Dart turboprops with four-blade reversible propellers, the YS-11 cruises at around 294 mph with a range of nearly 1,500 miles, making it well-suited for short and medium-haul routes.

The YS-11 is available now through the in-sim Marketplace for $19.99, with rental options also offered (7 days for $9.99, 3 days for $6.99, or a free one-day trial).
