Developer LivToAir, best known for their recently released Eviation Alice fully electric aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator, has revealed that they are working on developing the Cessna Citation CJ3+ light business jet as their next add-on. Equipped with the Garmin G3000 avionics suite, the CJ3+ is known for its efficiency and ability to operate off of shorter runways. It comfortably seats six and is popular with private and charter operators worldwide.
While we don’t know much about LiveToAir’s upcoming add-on beyond what is shown in the images, we have been told that it will be offered for both Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Additionally, LivToAir states that they are predicting a “late Q1 or early Q2 2025” release. No price has been indicated as of yet.
Pilots familiar with Microsoft Flight Simulator’s aircraft lineup will draw the inevitable comparison to the default CJ4 offered in MSFS2020 (also now available in the Standard edition of MSFS2024) and subsequently substantially upgraded by Working Title. Both the CJ3+ and CJ4 trace their lineage to the Cessna Citation Model 525 “CitationJet” series and thus share similar performance and dimensions. The CJ4 is slightly faster and longer, with room for one more passenger compared with the CJ3+, but the CJ3+ offers shorter takeoff and landing performance. Another major difference between the MSFS default CJ4 and Live2Air’s upcoming CJ3+ is the flight deck, with the CJ3+ equipped with the Garmin G3000 suite vs the CJ4’s Rockwell Collins Proline 21 integrated avionics system.
We’ll keep you updated as we get more information about LivToAir’s upcoming project.
