LivToAir Citation CJ3+ Nearing Completion

The release timeline for the MSFS biz-jet is coming into focus…

LivToAir Citation CJ3+ Nearing Completion

LivToAir, the developer behind the Eviation Alice fully electric aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator, has provided a progress update for their upcoming Cessna Citation CJ3+ light business jet. According to a post on LivToAir’s Discord server, the CJ3+ is “close to its final shape”. Yaniv Nadell, LivToAir’s lead developer, states the CJ3+’s development is currently focused on bug fixing and the EFB, and “…based on the progress I think there is about a month left of work and then probably almost another month for preparing it for release.” This would put the bizjet’s release sometime in early Q2 2025.

Equipped with the Garmin G3000 avionics suite, the CJ3+ is known for its efficiency and ability to operate from shorter runways. It comfortably seats six and is popular with private and charter operators worldwide. LivToAir’s CJ3+ will feature an EFB based on an improved version of the EFB map app in their Eviation Alice and based on screenshots, the EFB will also feature SimBrief integration.

Pilots familiar with Microsoft Flight Simulator’s aircraft lineup will draw the inevitable comparison to the default CJ4 offered in MSFS2020 and the Standard edition of MSFS2024. Both the CJ3 and CJ4 trace their lineage to the Cessna Citation Model 525 “CitationJet” series and thus share similar performance and dimensions. The CJ4 is slightly faster and longer, with room for one more passenger compared to the CJ3+, but the CJ3+ offers shorter takeoff and landing performance. Another major difference between the MSFS default CJ4 and Liv2Air’s upcoming CJ3+ is the flight deck, with the CJ3+ equipped with the Garmin G3000 suite vs the CJ4’s Rockwell Collins Proline 21 integrated avionics system.

LivToAir’s upcoming CJ3+ will be offered for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. No price has been indicated as of yet.
